Death Of Fidel Castro A Week Of Celebrations Starts In Cuba

From Monday November 28 and throughout the week, Cubans will be able to attend or take part in a series of tributes and celebrations in memory of Fidel Castro. Point in Havana.





It is a busy program which starts this Monday, November 28, three days after the death of Fidel Castro. Cubans begin to gather around a historic location in the heart of the capital's Revolution Square. A small group came to Biran, the birthplace of Fidel Castro, came especially for the occasion.

At 8 am (13h GMT), President Raul Castro will speak under the monument of Jose Marti, of the struggle for Cuban independence in the nineteenth century revolutionary figure which will draw besides Fidel Castro. Then at 9am, the guns of Havana and Santiago will ring together.

Many are aware that the country is a historic turning point today. Because even if the former president had virtually disappeared from the media scene for almost 10 years, his brother Raul systematically consulted him, and he remained highly respected population.

The proof for two days, Cubans spontaneously hoisted the national flag on the front of their house, others displayed a photo of Comandante.

All these ceremonies will conclude Sunday with of course the highlight, Fidel Castro's funeral in Santiago de Cuba. The ashes of Lider will be routed over nearly 900 km, passing through Santa Clara, where the body of Che Guevara.
