Erbil Hospitals Overwhelmed By The Wounded In Mosul

While fighting continues in Mosul between the Iraqi army and organization Islamic state, the wounded flock to hospitals in Erbil, now overwhelmed.


The injured and victims are more and more as the battle of Mosul continues. Most are sent to hospitals in Erbil, the capital of the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan.

On-site medical teams and infrastructure are overwhelmed. Every day, dozens of civilians and soldiers arrive to emergencies. Often they were the victims of a shell or a mortar.
Scott Irvine, an American doctor came to lend a hand with medical teams, regrets the lack of space and appropriate equipment to perform operations.

In the corridors of hospitals, families of the wounded are concerned. But some say they are also proud that one of their relatives had participated in the liberation of Mosul. Yet if the fighting persist for a long time, the medical situation even risk his degrade in hospitals in Erbil.
