Investigators Found A Corpse In The Place Where Woman Was "Chained Like A Dog"

Investigators found a body on a farm northwest of South Carolina where the day before a woman of 30-year-old was found, " chained like a dog " in a cargo container.

Kala Brown, who disappeared with her boyfriend more than two months ago, warned the authorities that the place might be other victims. A suspect was arrested.



There are still many questions about this macabre case. This is what we know:

What the authorities said the body?

Glenn Murray, spokesman for the Attorney's 7th District, did not specify whether the body recovered is a man or a woman.

Brown told investigators believe that four people could be buried on the property.

The sniffer dog detected something during a search on Thursday, said Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright, but it is unclear if that led to the discovery of the body found.

Wright said Friday it is too early to tell how the person died. Neither she said when asked if he was a corpse or bones that was found.

Brown disappeared in late August, along with her boyfriend Charles David Carver.

After the couple disappeared, worried relatives reported to the press that began to see cryptic messages on Facebook page of Carver and feared that has been hacked, WSPA-TV reported CNN affiliate. Last month, the page was removed.

Attorney Barry Barnette told a judge at the hearing of Todd Kohlhepp -the man detained on Thursday- Brown had told investigators he saw the suspect killing her boyfriend.

What led investigators to the farm?

Barnette said that the last communication in social networks before disappearing Brown had was with Kohlhepp. It was supposed to be with Kohlhepp on the farm of 38 hectares in Woodruff.

Through phone records, investigators traced the phone near the site where he eventually was found.


"We did good job policing the old" Wright told Ashleigh Banfield HLN.

Who is the owner of the property and how it is connected with the case?

Kohlhepp, a registered sex offender by the authorities who had been working as a real estate agent in the area, owns the property he bought in May 2014 for $ 305,000. He was arrested on Thursday and is not cooperating with investigators, said the sheriff. Not live on that property instead of Woodruff.
The warrant says Kohlhepp, 45, kidnapped Brown around August 31 in Spartanburg. Barnette said the maximum sentence for the crime is 30 years in prison.

For now Kohlhepp is in custody without bail. In a court appearance Friday, a judge referred the matter of bail to a district court. Kohlhepp, wearing a blue shirt, said he did not know who to contact to get a lawyer.

It is not the first time Kohlhepp is accused of kidnapping. It was included in the sex offender registry South Carolina as a result of a conviction for kidnapping in Arizona in 1987 when he was a teenager.

He served 15 years in prison for that crime.

What more researchers found?

The researchers say they found the car on the property Carver Woodruff Thursday. He was in a ravine, covered with bushes.

The authorities have found "many weapons and ammunition" on the property, the sheriff told HLN.

Besides shooting targets found near a two-car garage. There is a room above the garage, Barnette, and chains around the bed said.

"We will not leave the property until we are 100% sure that we have done everything possible," said Wright.
