Libya: The Battle For Sirte Recovery Drags

Almost six months after its launch on May 12, the battle of Sirte against members of the EI group is complete. Yet the militias of "Operation Al Bonyan Al Marsous" had received the Western military assistance, such as financial aid from all over Libya.

It's been six months since the operation started Sirte . On several occasions, senior Libyan military and political officials have announced a release "  imminent  " in the city, which is nevertheless still at war.

There are several question marks on the reasons for the slow pace of the battle , while Sirte is a small town compared to Mosul in Iraq and Raqqa in Syria, both at the hands of the IU.

Several Libyan analysts call this battle " media " for " relook faces extremist militias and the Muslim Brotherhood in Libya".

Indeed, among the militias fighting in Sirte, there are extremists who have received their training in Tora Bora in Afghanistan and who are part of al-Qaeda.

These militias, which are mostly from Misrata had wreaked havoc in Tripoli before coming in Sirte, forcing the Parliament and the government to take refuge in the east. Became government forces, these militias do not wish to integrate into a unified national army.

Besides, Misrata claimed that a high price is paid for the sacrifices she has made. Huge sums of money have been paid to the city by the state and by citizens. And its people require to get key positions in the higher institutions.

The end of the battle is no longer a military issue, it is now a political issue based on multiple and complicated calculations.
