Syria Shelling In Aleppo, A Frightening Balance Sheet

About One hundred and twenty people were dead and hundreds injured: the frightening balance sheet after four days of air strikes and fighting in Aleppo and its surroundings. The neighbourhoods east of the city, besieged by the rebels, are subjected to incessant shelling and hospitals would be off.


The systematic destruction of hospitals by the Russian and Syrian aviation in districts east of Aleppo aims to break the rebels' will to resist and 250,000 civilians still living in the eastern part of the city, besieged by regime and its allies. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH) ensures that some hospitals continue to provide care, but added that the bombing discourage people to go there.

A dramatic situation for civilians

Air raids and artillery shelling were accompanied by attacks against several rebel neighbourhoods. The government army has progressed Saeed Sheikh, south of the besieged area. The situation of civilians is dramatic. In addition to the shelling, they suffer from shortages and violence by rebel groups.

Hunger Riots 

The Russian and Syrian media reports of riots quelled in several Aleppo districts east. The spokesman of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Igor Konachenkov, reported at least 17 dead, two teenagers, when rebels fired into the angry crowd protesting against the unfair distribution of food rations. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH), at least 27 civilians were killed on Saturday in air strikes and shelling of the Syrian regime on rebel districts of Aleppo, in the fifth day of the offensive army.
