Migratory Decree: New Judicial Reversal For Trump On Appeal

The US president multiplies the legal setbacks on his migratory decree.

Following similar decisions in February and March, the Migratory Decree of Donald Trump, which aims to temporarily limit access to the territory for migrants from six Muslim-majority countries, was once again blocked by courts. The text would establish intolerable religious discrimination for the US Constitution, and its motives would be questionable. But Donald Trump does not disarm.

Ten versus three judges: The Federal Court of Appeal in Richmond, Virginia, largely confirmed the suspension of the anti-immigration decree that President Donald Trump would like to impose.

In spite of a more polished handwriting than the first version, and mainly the disappearance of the mention of Muslim to define the nationals of the countries covered by the text, the judges considered that the speech held for months could not be disregarded.

For while the President has broad powers on this issue, the US Constitution does not tolerate religious discrimination. And even if the defenders of the text had mainly pleaded national security issues, the judges replied that the decree would have "  irreparable harmful consequences for people throughout the country ".
Before the Supreme Court
Since his arrival at the White House, Donald Trump is struggling to realize, for various reasons, his campaign promises. In this case, the president often denounced "politicized justice".

But he is determined to carry on the fight to the end, and his administration has already announced that he wants to appeal to the Supreme Court, the highest court of the country.
