Re-elected In Iran, Rohani Will Have To Deal With Pro-Saudi America Of Trump

Barely re-elected triumphantly for four years, the moderate Iranian president Hassan Rohani has been put under pressure by the United States, the enemy of Iran for nearly 40 years. From Saudi Arabia, Iran's rival to the Middle East, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson directly asked the elected official to begin a process of dismantling the "  Iranian terrorist network  " and "  End the ballistic missile test  " of the country.

Iranian President: President Hassan Rohani Is Widely Ahead

It is still too early to announce that there will be no second round in the 2017 presidential election in Iran, but the first partial results are promising for the reformers' camp. According to the Ministry of the Interior, after counting 25.9 million ballots, the president wins 14.6 million votes against 10.1 million for the conservative Ebrahim Raissi. Hassan Rohani can hope for an absolute majority.

Presidential Election: The Iranians At The Time Of Choice

On Friday, 19 May, 56.4 million Iranian voters are called to the polls to elect their president. The outgoing Hassan Rohani, religious reformer, shares favorite but the conservative camp has considerably strengthened with the rallying of the mayor of Tehran to the former prosecutor Ebrahim Raissi. By their vote, the Iranians will also decide whether to continue the policy of opening to the West initiated by Rohani.
